About Us
Our History & Partnership
For over 30 years, First Care Medical Clinic has been the healthcare safety net for Charlotte-area communities. The Okwara Community Foundation exists to strengthen and expand that mission.
OUR MISSION
Compassionate Care. No Exceptions.
The Okwara Community Foundation was established to address persistent health disparities affecting underserved and underinsured populations across NC and SC. Grounded in the belief that healthcare is a fundamental right, OCF delivers community-based programs that improve long-term health outcomes and strengthen family stability.
OCF takes a whole-person approach ,recognizing that medical needs are deeply connected to behavioral health, economic stability, and access to essential resources. Through primary care support, pediatric behavioral health, and population health management, we close critical gaps for vulnerable communities.
A defining strength of OCF is its formal partnership with First Care Medical Clinic , a multi-site organization with over 30 years of experience serving uninsured patients. As the community outreach and impact arm of an established clinical infrastructure, OCF extends care beyond the clinic walls: connecting patients to preventive services, behavioral health support, and social resources that address food access, transportation, and care coordination.
